Reference to Incarcerated People

During the Fall 2024 semester, our Reference & Instruction (INFO 652) class assisted New York Public Library’s Reference by Mail program, which responds to requests for information from incarcerated people around the country. Through researching and writing responses to three letters, I gained both hands-on reference experience and a greater perspective on cultural humility and critical librarianship.
